Funny Lady, Surprisingly Real

'When I say luncheon you say boring.  Luncheon! Boring!  Luncheon!  Boring!'

NOT SO however at today's Birmingham Association of Realtors luncheon featuring funny lady Barbara Dooley.

A Georgia Realtor herself, Barbara admonished us to:
1) Get focused - being all things to all people with a 'shotgun pattern' approach to sales, can result in poor performance.

2)  Build relationships - at the base of humanity is the need to be loved and appreciated; phonies can be detected a football field away.  Make a friend first and the business will come.

3)  Serve your clients - listening is a skill that must be cultivated.  Sit down, close your mouth, listen to concerns and needs, then serve clients with skill and excellence.

4)  Have integrity - sad that this reminder is necessary, but a little self-examination might prove a worthy exercise.  Do you tell the truth?  Do you practice the Golden Rule?   Folks that know you, like you and trust you will work with you.

5)  Get quiet and meditate - prayer changes us. Reciting the words from The Dash, Barbara reminded us that life is but a vapor and what really matters is what you do while on this earth.  Figure out what it is you are uniquely designed to give, and get to giving!

5)  Have fun for goodness sake!  Following uproarious stories of her life with Vince, Barbara closed our session with a thunderous chorus of Stevie Wonder's 'I Just Called to Say I Love You.'  The whole room was swaying to the beat, encouraging each other with the words I love you.

So glad to do what I do.  Living the dash.  #homeownershipmatters

A Day in the Life

Just ask my friends and family. The Realtor™ moniker earns you right to work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year with precious few untethered moments.  Quite the juggling act to prioritize service to my faith, family, clients and community, much less find time to champion home ownership rights.

But today that opportunity came.....

Met Gary Palmer, Candidate for the 6th Congressional District.

Nice guy, not at all what you might imagine. Totally un-flashy and mostly down to earth.

Turns out we both value home ownership and property rights. And evidently he likes Alabama football.

November elections are just around the corner.  Just enough time to do your homework!
